What would it be like if we had a virtual device on all human beings that displayed the level of drive in each of us throughout the day? We need to know what our level of drive the whole day through. While working with one of my clients a couple of days ago I asked him, “What’s your level of drive right now?” And he answered “Oh you know it must be a 7 or an 8.” But looking at his body language, I really couldn’t see a 7 or an 8, instead it looked more like a 4. So I said, “Well, from my angle I can only see your drive level is about a 4.” My friend there looks a bit guilty and admits “Yeah well maybe it’s a 4 or a 5. I was probably just overstating it.”

One of the ways to be highly successful is to know what’s going on inside your mind and your body and the way to do that is to just ask yourself that question: “what’s my level of drive right now?’ And an answer is instantly going to pop up from 1 to 10. Let’s say that the answer that pops up is a 6.

In that case you can ask a question, “What do I need to do to go from a 6 to a 10?” And your mind, being a natural problem solver, is going to answer back. And the answer could be as simple as to listen to your favorite song, the one that kind of gets your blood pumping and the energy level up. So it could be as simple as listening to a song.

Or it could be just a 2 minute phone call that you could make to someone that would give you an energy boost. You simply need to ask yourself what you need to do to raise that energy level and your drive in yourself from a 6 to a 10 and the answer pops back up like that.

So instead of taking a giant bite, start with a nibble. As a simple tool to measure, check your level of drive throughout the day as that’s a major factor in your level of success. Instead of taking up big tasks, start with smaller tasks that are easier and give you a sense of accomplishment, give you success and equip you the confidence you need to go from a 6 to an energetic 10.
