The words that we use are actually thoughts inside our heads. The words we use also become thoughts in other people’s heads because they have to understand what you’re saying. Those thoughts are the programs that run your brain that dictate how you perceive the world and how you interact with it.

So words have power. Let me give you an example of what I’m talking about. I was in a meeting with Kevin from Atlantic Lift truck. He was telling me that a lot of people that operate lift trucks use them like go-carts. But when he goes into a new facility and sells them a new truck and trains people how to operate it, he never talks about ‘driving’, he talks about ‘operating’ it. As soon as he does that, people treat it with more respect, than they would if he talked about driving. And they’re a lot more responsible.

So words have power. If you look in your life as you’re leading people or selling or just connecting with people, pay attention to the words you use and you can start using different words as an experiment and see how it changes the way people interact with you. The big idea here is, that words are thoughts and thoughts are the programs that are in our mind and also they influence other people’s minds.
